Waldrom: Will fly out to New Zealand as cover for Easter

England have called up Leicester No. 8 Thomas Waldrom as cover for injured forward Nick Easter.

Waldrom, who was a member of the initial 45-man training squad but did not make the final cut for the World Cup, will fly to New Zealand on Monday but has not been named as an official replacement in the party.

Easter is still being treated for the back injury that ruled him out of England's 41-10 victory over Georgia on Sunday.

England are still yet to confirm a replacement for prop Andrew Sheridan, who had his tournament ended when he suffered a shoulder injury in his nation's opening game against Argentina.

Team manager Martin Johnson confirmed that Waldrom has so far only been named as temporary cover.

"Nick Easter is still suffering from a sore back so we will be bringing Thomas out as temporary cover. We've obviously spoken to Leicester and Thomas will be flying later today," Johnson said.
