Carle: Wanted by Warnock
Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has confirmed his interest in Bristol City's Nick Carle and Mark Yeates of Colchester United.
The Eagles are on the lookout for a new midfielder with Ben Watson set to depart Selhurst Park this summer.
Carle impressed against Palace in both legs of Bristol City's play-off success over Warnock's troops last month, while Yeates remains a target despite recently failing a medical with the club.
Although Yeates needs time to recover from his shoulder injury, Warnock is not ruling out reigniting his interest once the midfielder has recovered.
"There are two midfield players we've spoken to and really want, but we only need one," he told the South London Press.
"Carle is the type we're looking for. Both him and our other target have not only got bags of ability but also enthusiasm and legs - they go all over the pitch.
"They would help bring a little more dimension to us attacking wise."
He added: "It was probably a bit concerning for Mark to see stories that the deal had fallen through - it's just on hold while he does a four-week rehabilitation plan.
"Hopefully it will still go through."
Meanwhile, one player set to join the Palace ranks is Austrian utility man Johannes Ertl, who spent time at the club last season on trial.
The versatile 25-year-old right-back helped Austria Vienna to a league and cup double in 2006 and has won seven caps for his country.
Warnock is confident the versatile Ertl will join for the start of next month with only a few points of the deal to be ironed out.
"Johannes will probably sign for us on 1st July - we've nearly agreed everything on that deal, there are just the odd bits to do.
"We needed someone who can play in a few positions and he can play in central defence and also in an anchor midfield role."
