Hamburg have confirmed their interest in Bayern Munich's wantaway striker Lukas Podolski.

The German international, who has been linked with Manchester City and Tottenham, could be used in a deal to bring Ivica Olic to Munich early.

Olic, currently with Hamburg, has signed a pre-contract with Bayern and they are now looking to get him during the current window.

It is claimed a deal could be struck which sees Podolski moving in the opposite direction and Hamburg have admitted their interest in getting him.

"It's true, Lukas Podolski is a transfer option for us, " Hamburg general manager Dietmar Beiersdorfer, who met with Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness in Dubai, confirmed to Bild.

Meanwhile, Podolski himself insists he wants his future sorting as soon as possible.

"I want a decision on my future as soon as possible," he told Bild.

"One way or another, I would like to have it decided before the end of January."
