Sky Sports sources understand Hull City have agreed a fee with Manchester City for striker Benjani.

Hull boss Phil Brown has spent the summer trying to improve his attacking options and has missed out on the likes of Michael Owen, Fraizer Campbell and Marc-Antoine Fortune.

Brown has recently added Kamel Ghilas and Jozy Altidore to his squad, and is now hoping to bring Benjani to the KC Stadium.

Benjani appears to have no future at Eastlands following Mark Hughes' summer spending spree and he has not even made the bench this season.

He has been linked with a return to former club Portsmouth, with Paul Hart admitting the 31-year-old is among his targets.

However, Premier League rivals Hull are looking to steal a march on Pompey and have agreed a fee with Hughes' side.

The Zimbabwean has scored six goals in 26 appearances for the Blues since joining from Pompey in January 2008, but he looks likely to be on the move before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Benjani to Pompey!! Him and Piquionne up front, two work ethic strikers that have an eye for goal. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Karl Attisha (Hull City fan) says...

The addition of Benjani to the Hull squad would be excellent. He would give us another option up front and competition for places with Ghilas, Altidore, Geovanni et al. Hull also need to keep Michael Turner whatever the bids from Sunderland or elsewhere. If the club has ambitions which Brown and the Chairman say they have then you can't keep selling off your best players and he has been the rock of the team for the last three seasons. We have no debts and so there should be no financial pressures to sell him and replace with a cheaper option. McShane coming back is a good buy. Ironically we started our bad run when he went back to Sunderland last season. Come on Hull show the Premiership that we have ambition and will not be bowing to the bigger clubs.

we dont want 31yr olds or crocked knees so brownie stop wasting valuable window time.Sell turner buy campbell plus another centre back for cover. Gardner and Zayatte are adequate with Kilbanne and mouyocolo as back up also. And what about the hottest young property at the KC.--Liam Cooper
