Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill has hinted that Christian Dailly may extend his stay at Fratton Park.
The 37-year-old is playing on a monthly contract and made an impact on his debut against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
The defender has most recently been with Charlton and was named their player of the year just over a year ago.
Cotterill feels Dailly will have a positive influence on the team morale and says there is a strong chance that he will stay at the club after the first month is over.
Wait and see
Cotterill told the Portsmouth News: "Christian's not the youngest, we know that.
"But he's on a monthly contract and he was able to come on at Middlesbrough.
"We'll wait and see how he goes but if we end up having Christian around for a year there would be no problems in having him around.
"You could see why he's still out there playing at 37.
"He may not be as quick as he was but he's as fit as they come, I'm pleased with him and he's an influence around the dressing room.
"And maybe he might just keep one or two others on their toes. He plays games. He's a proper professional."
