Liverpool have allowed defender Gabriel Paletta to join Boca Juniors, just a year after signing the Argentine from Banfield.

Paletta moved to Anfield for £2million last summer after impressive performances in the 2005 Fifa World Youth Championships.

However, the 21-year-old made just eight appearances for The Reds last season, scoring on his debut in the Carling Cup against Reading.

Spanish sides were interested in taking Paletta on loan this season but Liverpool have decided to cash in on the stopper.
