Bristol City have broken their club record to sign Egypt international striker Emad Meteb from El Ahly.

Gary Johnson's side have splashed out £1.5million to bring the 25-year-old to Ashton Gate, smashing the previous mark of £1.2million paid for Ade Akinbiyi back in 1999.

Meteb has agreed a three-year contract with the Robins, and will put pen to paper provided he is granted a work permit.

The forward boasts an impressive goalscoring record at both club and international level.

He has found the net 89 times in 172 appearances for his Egyptian club in the past four seasons, while bagging 22 goals in 47 international outings.
