Bristol City have completed the £140,000 capture of John Akinde from Ebbsfleet United.

The highy-rated winger was in the stands at Ashton Gate to see his new team-mates draw 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

The 19-year-old will officially sign on Monday, with Gary Johnson hoping the youngster adds some much-needed firepower to his squad.

"It's a big step for John from the Conference, but he is a big lad with bags of pace and we feel he has it in him to become a Championship player," said the City manager.

"He missed pre-season with a slight groin problem so he may need a little while to get fully match-fit.

"But I expect him to be challenging for a first-team place very soon."
