Stelios: Larissa move
Stelios Giannakopoulos has returned to Greek football with Larissa after parting company with Hull City.
The Greek midfielder, who enjoyed international glory at Euro 2004 and featured at Euro 2008, has left the KC Stadium having failed to make an impact under Phil Brown.
Giannakopoulos joined the Tigers on a free transfer after five years with Bolton in a bid to resurrect his international career.
But he made just one start and two appearances from the bench and has now put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half-year deal with Larissa.
The Greek club confirmed in a statement: "He has made Larissa his sixth club in a career which has seen him perform at the highest level for the last 15 years."
Giannakopolous was released by the Trotters at the end of last season and did not agree a deal with Brown's men until late September.
It was a further two months before the 34-year-old reached the required level of fitness to make the bench, with his only start coming in the 0-0 FA Cup third round draw with Newcastle.
A brief statement on Hull City's official website read: "The club would like to offer its best wishes to Stelios for the future."
