Blackburn defender Andre Ooijer has agreed a one-year deal with PSV Eindhoven.

A return to Holland for Ooijer has been mooted for some time and now the switch to PSV has been confirmed.

Ooijer leaves Ewood Park on a free transfer after three years with the Lancashire outfit.

The versatile defender spent nine years with PSV before moving to Blackburn and the 34-year-old has always indicated he would like to end his career back in his native Holland.

"This is going to be my last match on Sunday as I am going back to PSV," said Ooijer. "I wanted to keep it a little bit quiet as we were in a relegation battle.

"It has been a difficult decision as I have had three great years at this club. But it is time for me to go home. I am just happy that Blackburn are safe.

"I am sure I have become a better person because it is a big experience to live abroad and play abroad."

Ooijer will play his last game for Blackburn at home to West Brom on Sunday.
