Lyon have reached an agreement to sign French international striker Bafetimbi Gomis on a five-year deal.

The 23-year-old is to make the switch from bitter rivals St Etienne for a sum of €15million (£12.8m).

Gomis will join the likes of Lisandro Lopez, Aly Cissokho and Michel Bastos, who have all agreed deals under coach Claude Puel.

Adding leverage to Lyon's attacking options, the young striker has been lined up to replace Karim Benzema who left for Real Madrid earlier this summer

"Everything has been finalised, it is a great thing," club official Bernard Lacombe told AFP.

"He will be a focal point for the attack which is important - 'Bafe' is a really exciting player."

A statement on Lyon's official website said: "The completion of this transfer is subject to the outcome of the medical examination the player will undergo in the coming days before signing a contract for five years with OL."
