Stoke City have completed the double signing of Robert Huth and Tuncay Sanli from Middlesbrough, Sky Sports understands.

Skysports.com revealed earlier on Thursday that the Potters had lined up a twin raid on the Riverside to offer Huth and Sanli a route back into the Premier League.

Germany international defender Huth and Turkish attacker Tuncay have now agreed personal terms to finalise their moves to the Britannia Stadium.

Boro are understood to have received a combined fee in the region of £11million for the two players and manager Gareth Southgate understands why both players wanted to move on before the close of the transfer window.

Southgate said: "Tuncay is an international player, he wants to play in the Premier League.

"He has loved his time here, I think, but the challenge of this Championship promotion push isn't one that he wants at the moment.

"I don't criticise him for that - he has got a World Cup year, as has Robert, and that's something that's at the forefront of both of their minds.

"I understand that and I also understand what we have to do as a football club, so there are no issues with either player from my point of view."
