Smith: QPR switch
Striker Tommy Smith has completed a loan move to QPR from Portsmouth ahead of a permanent switch in January.
An initial deal was agreed between the two clubs on transfer deadline day only for the proposed switch to stall with the Football League not sanctioning the move.
But Smith's future has now been resolved with a temporary accord reached ahead of him becoming a full-time member of the Loftus Road staff on 1st January.
And the former Watford, Sunderland and Derby man is eager to prove his worth to his new club but knows he will have to fight for a first-team place with the in-form Rs currently top of the Championship table.
He told the club's official website: "It's nice to be here. Neil Warnock played a big part in my decision. He has got a great record and the club have made an excellent start to the season. It's something I want to be part of.
"It's a stable club with ambition and you can see what they are trying to build here.
"I know I will have to work hard to get into the team because they have started very well. If I was a player in the side I would be expecting to hold onto my place, having not lost. I understand that.
"The manager has told me to bring competition in for places, and that's what I intend to do."
Warnock earlier told Sky Sports News: "I think Tom is looking forward to the challenge.
"He will fit in well, he can play all across the front three and in the hole. He will give us so much variety and that is what we wanted.
"He is one I have chased for many years, I have had numerous conversations over the years trying to sign him, so it's nice for me to have him on board, he is a smashing lad."
