St Johnstone have completed the signing of striker Carl Finningan on a one-year contract.

Skysports.com revealed earlier on Friday that the former Newcastle United youngster had agreed a deal with the Scottish Premier League outfit.

The 24-year-old former Falkirk forward, who this week has been training with Saints, becomes manager Derek McInnes' sixth summer signing after the captures of Calum Davidson, David Robertson, Sean Higgins, Frazer Wright and David McCracken.

McInnes told the club's official website: "Our lack of goals last season was a problem and hopefully Carl can help us in that respect.

"Goals will have to come from all over the team but I am confident Carl can weigh in with a few.

"He has SPL experience which is a help and we are looking forward to helping develop his career."
