Millwall have signed former Leicester City and Watford defender Jordan Stewart on a one-year contract.

Stewart has been training with the Lions since the start of pre-season after deciding he wanted to leave Greek club Skoda Xanthi.

The 29-year-old lasted only one season abroad after previous spells with Leicester, Watford, Derby and Sheffield United.

Stewart said: "I had always wanted to play abroad which is why I took the opportunity to go to Greece, but after a year out there I felt it was the right time to come back to this country.

"The Greek league isn't as intense as the Championship and Millwall is a big club with a great fan base so I'm really looking forward to playing here."

He will travel with his new team-mates to Ireland at the weekend for the club's pre-season tour and Kenny Jackett is happy with his latest recruit.

Boss Jackett added: "Speaking to him and watching him, I'm impressed with his hunger and desire to get back into English football."
