Arca: Unaware of rumours

Julio Arca insists he is happy to stay at Middlesbrough after being linked with a return to Sunderland.

Just 12 months after joining Boro in a £1.75million deal, reports have claimed he is wanted back at The Stadium of Light in a £5million transfer.

But the Argentinian midfielder, whose goal secured a 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Sunday, is ignoring the speculation.

"It is all rumours, I know as much as them," said Arca.

Delighted to stay

"No-one has contacted me, so from my point of view, it is all rumours.

"I will be delighted to stay here, but I cannot say what is going on because I do not know."

Meanwhile, Arca has praised the early impact of new signing Mido after the Egyptian's goal against Newcastle.

Mido has scored in both of his appearances for Boro after arriving from Tottenham and the striker has been tipped to be a key player for the club.

Arca added: "He is going to be even better as the games go on because he has not played for a while.

"But even then, he has shown how good he is. He is going to get more pace and more confidence and then people will start to realise how good he is going to be for us."
