Del Nido: Keen to keep stars
Jose Maria del Nido has stated that he knows nothing about Tottenham reportedly being prepared to match Diego Capel's buy-out clause and has outlined where Sevilla need to strengthen.
The Andalucian club's president went through all the current stories in the media and addressed each one, including the reports that Capel could be on his way to White Hart Lane.
"After talks with his representatives, I do not have any information about Tottenham being prepared to pay his clause, which is 15.6million euros (£12.3m)," said Del Nido.
"What I would ask is whether a foreign club could exercise the buy-out clause in Spain?" he told ABC Sevilla.
Daniel Alves' future is still up in the air and whether he stays or goes directly effects which players Sevilla will themselves target during the transfer window.
"We need a right back, left back, central defender, central midfielder and a player that can play down either wing," he added.
"If more players leave than that will increase and if Daniel stays then forget about a new right back."
Fernando Navarro was one player that Sevilla were hoping to buy, but Del Nido has revealed that Mallorca's asking price is too high and they have pulled out of any deal.
"They have put a price on him that does not fit in with our calculations, after all they can ask for what they want, and we will look for another full-back," he explained.
Other Sevilla stars are also in demand, but Del Nido insisted that players will only be leaving if their buy-out clauses are met.
"Three or four players have been enquired about in the squad, but they are not for sale," he insisted.
"There are some players with low buy-out clauses who could go, just like with (Seydou) Keita."
On Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano's time at the club, the president explained: "He has at least one year left here, if not two. We are in advanced talks about his renewal. The idea is that he stays here for the next four seasons."
He then added that Italian midfielder Enzo Maresca is also staying: "The idea is that he will be with us for several more years and we do not contemplate using him in any deals."
Finally, Del Nido gave coach Manolo Jimenez his full support and said that after considering all the options, Sevilla decided that they had the right man in charge.
"We have the best coach in the world," he said.
"We looked at everybody that was available and we decided that we had the man who is top of our list already."
