Massimo Donati could be set to stay in Scotland as Sampdoria describe Celtic's asking price as 'incredible'.

The Bhoys midfielder played a peripheral part in last season's successful SPL campaign and has been tipped to leave the club this summer.

Donati, who joined Celtic from Milan last July, has previously admitted a return to Italy with Sampdoria would appeal.

And the Serie A club have shown an interest, but general manager Beppe Marotta has been shocked by Celtic's transfer demands.

"The player seems willing to come," Marotta told the Daily Record.

"But the problem is Celtic want too much money. The price they want is incredible."
