Kanu: Wants two-year deal

Kanu has suggested he wants the offer of a two-year contract before he commits his future to Portsmouth.

The experienced striker has triggered the reward of a 12-month extension at Fratton Park after making enough appearances last season.

However, the Nigerian feels his contribution to Pompey's success last term is deserving of a more long-term arrangement.

"I cannot sign for just one year when I have done so much for the club," Kanu told Brila FM.

Still discussing

"Winning the FA Cup and playing well during the season should qualify me for more than a one-year extension.

"I believe for them to really appreciate my efforts with the team last season, they have to top it up with one more year. That's where we are now and we are still discussing."

Kanu scored Pompey's winning goal in the FA Cup final against Cardiff City in May, and also poached the only goal in the semi-final against West Brom.

He has spent two seasons on the South Coast after joining from West Brom and has scored 19 goals in 69 appearances for Pompey.
