Coventry boss Chris Coleman is adamant Michael Mifsud remains part of his plans, even though the forward came close to leaving the club earlier this summer.

Mifsud looked set for a move away from the Ricoh Arena after he handed in a transfer request.

Bristol City agreed a deal with the Sky Blues for the Malta international, but the move collapsed at the last minute, leaving Mifsud in limbo.

He returned to the Coventry side for Wednesday's Carling Cup win over Aldershot and Coleman is happy to keep the diminutive hit-man.

"This season is about Coventry City, the team and the squad we have got and we are going to use all our players because we have 45 games left," Coleman told Sky Sports News.

"We are still in two cup competitions so we are going to need all our players.

"We want Michael Mifusd to stay here and play with us.

"If Michael keeps giving us that performance and that level of commitment only a fool would leave him out of the squad and I am not a fool.

"As long as I get that from all of our players I will be happy."
