Denilson: Free agent
Bolton boss Gary Megson has ruled out the possibility of handing a permanent deal to trialist Denilson.
The former Brazil international had been training with the Trotters in the hope of securing a full-time contract with the club.
The experienced playmaker had looked all set to agree terms at the Reebok Stadium at one stage, with his brother and agent Denis de Oliveira Araujo revealing on Wednesday that he expected an offer to be made to his client.
However, despite being impressed by the World Cup winner's desire and fitness, Megson has confirmed that the club will not be taking their interest any further.
"It wasn't a trial, because that is a bit demeaning for a player of that class," said the Bolton coach.
"We got a call saying 'would we like to have a look at him?'. He wasn't fit, but his class and quality was there for all to see.
"But there are other parts of his game that we didn't feel we would be able to use to our advantage and would be able to complement everyone else.
"We have spoken with his people and said we won't be going any further.
"He is a fantastic person and didn't come here as a 'big time Charlie'.
"He mixed in with everyone else - and if anyone rang me up about giving him a reference he'd get nothing but positives."
A man who once laid claim to being the world's most expensive football is believed to have other avenues to explore and is not expected to be a free agent for long.
