Skysports.com understands Nottingham Forest are poised to open talks with Dexter Blackstock about keeping him on a permanent basis.

Blackstock has impressed during his loan stint from Queens Park Rangers, scoring two goals in five appearances and helping Forest secure safety in the Championship.

Forest boss Billy Davies is now keen to sign Blackstock full-time and they are ready to open talks with Rangers.

Davies is determined to reshape his squad for next season as he looks to mount a bid for promotion and he sees Blackstock as a key addition to his ranks.

Substantial funds are expected to be made available for Davies as they look to transform their fortunes next term and Forest are ready to meet QPR's valuation of Blackstock.

Blackstock, who is QPR's top scorer, has admitted he would consider a permanent move to Forest if Rangers decide to cash in on him.

The former Southampton's star's agent Eric Walters is due to hold talks with Forest's hierarcy after Sunday's final game of the season against the Saints about a potential move to the City Ground.
