Peterborough United midfielder Sergio Torres is determined to prove to manager Darren Ferguson that he has a future at London Road.

Torres has been made available for transfer by Ferguson after Peterborough clinched promotion to the Championship.

The Argentine made just 15 appearances in League One last season after his arrival from Wycombe, but does not want to leave Posh.

"Any player would be disappointed to be placed on the transfer list, but I am a professional and I will try hard to make the manager change his mind while I am still at the club," Torres told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

"It encourages me that I was allowed to train with the first team. The most important thing for me right now is to have a good pre-season because last year I missed most of it because of injury and that didn't help me settle in at the club.

"I don't want to leave this club and I want to play in the Championship. Many people have told me that the Championship might suit my game as I will get more time on the ball.

"I hope I can prove to the manager that I am worth a try. I will do my best to make that happen."
