Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has confirmed Rangers striker Kris Boyd remains on the club's radar.

Former Gers boss McLeish moved for the free-scoring ace last month, only for the club's bid to be knocked back by the SPL leaders.

Boyd is out of contract in the summer, although Rangers have offered him a reported £18,000-a-week deal to extend his Ibrox stay.

The former Kilmarnock hit-man is available for free at the end of the season and McLeish has confirmed he still wants to secure his signature.

Question

"I asked the question of Rangers," confirmed McLeish.

"But Walter Smith said he was going to keep everybody until the end of the season.

"There are other clubs in for him but we will pursue that avenue."

McLeish also confirmed he made a verbal offer for Celtic winger Aiden McGeady, a move that was also rejected.

"Did we make a bid?" he continued. "It was verbal."
