Adriano: Set for Euro return
Brazil international Adriano has opened the door to a sensational return to Italy with Roma.
The 28-year-old frontman left Serie A under a cloud in April 2009 after agreeing to terminate his contract at Inter Milan.
Personal problems and an alarming dip in form forced the Samba star to head home as he battled to get his career back on track.
He has been back to his free-scoring best since signing a one-year deal with Flamengo, and insists he is now ready to return to Europe.
A move to Italy appeals most to a man who spent eight years in the country between 2001 and 2009 and Adriano admits Roma, who have already been in touch, would be his preferred destination.
"I would like very much to have the chance to join Roma and have the chance to play alongside Francesco Totti," he told Rai.
"It would be fantastic for me to return to Italy because I have wonderful memories from my time there."
Adriano's contract with Flamengo expires at the end of the current campaign, meaning he will soon be available as a free agent.
He is expected to be inundated with offers over the coming months, but the burly striker insists a switch to Serie A is dominating his thoughts.
"I want to become a world champion in South Africa with Brazil and then return to Italy," he added.
"I want to apologise and make amends for the way I left."
