Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi says there have been no bids for John Brayford amid reports the full-back is on his way to Derby County.

Brayford has been a long-term target for Derby after playing under the Rams' manager Nigel Clough at Burton Albion.

A deal failed to materialise last summer, but reports have claimed that the defender will move to Pride Park for an initial £400,000 at the end of the season.

However, while Gradi is prepared to sell Brayford for the right price, he confirmed there have been no offers for his club captain.

Terrific player

Gradi told the club's official website: "There has been interest in John all season, but we have not had any bids for him as yet.

"He's a terrific player, but at the moment I am planning the new season with him in my squad.

"Of course, as usual, if there was the right offer we would listen, but for the time being he's a Crewe player. We hope that he doesn't leave us."

Meanwhile, the future of Crewe's out-of-contract players is expected to be resolved this week.

Goalkeeper Adam Legzdins, defender Danny O'Donnell and midfielder Steven Schumacher are among those whose deals are set to expire this summer.

Gradi must also decide whether he wants on-loan players Simon Walton, Harry Worley and Steve Phillips to complete permanent moves to Gresty Road.
