Skysports.com understands Oldham are lining up a move for Manchester City defender Ryan McGivern.

New Latics boss Paul Dickov is keen to bring the Northern Ireland international to Boundary Park on a loan deal as he looks to bolster his squad.

McGivern is well down the pecking order at City and he spent last season on loan at Championship side Leicester.

City are believed to be prepared to farm out the left-back again so that he can get some first-team action under his belt and this has alerted a number of Championship and League One clubs.

However, Dickov is hoping he can lure the 20-year-old to Oldham having played with him at Manchester City and Leicester, and he is a big fan of the full-back.
