Mario Gotze: Admits 'you never know what will happen' in the future

Mario Gotze has responded to reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid by insisting he is happy at Borussia Dortmund but he admits he does not know what the future holds.

The 19-year-old has often been described as a German version of Lionel Messi and is considered one Dortmund's best players.

Jose Mourinho's Real have consequently been linked with Gotze, who is under contract until the summer of 2014.

And the presence of compatriots Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira and former team-mate Nuri Sahin at the Bernabeu is rumoured to be tempting the teenager.

"I have never said we will never sell him to any other club. I never said he is non-transferable."
Dortmund executive Hans-Joachim Watzke Quotes of the week

"I am very content where I am, but you never know what will happen," Gotze is quoted as saying.

"Sahin also came from this club's youth system, and now? He plays at Santiago Bernabeu.

"Playing with Ozil and Khedira for Germany is a dream for me because they are Real Madrid players. It is quite special to play with them."

Meanwhile, Dortmund executive Hans-Joachim Watzke and general manager Michael Zorc are less than impressed with the rumours.

But the Dortmund hierarchy have also refused to rule out the possible sale of Gotze in the future.

Watzke told Deutsche Presseagentur: "No-one is doing the lad any good with the nonsense rumours.

"I have never said we will never sell him to any other club. I never said he is non-transferable. I just said we will not sell him right now. No matter which club is to line up any sort of bid. That is a fact."

Zorc has followed the party line and has joked Dortmund would want Cristiano Ronaldo in exchange for Gotze.

He said: "I am not to say Mario Gotze is not for sale. I am not using this sort of term in this respect.

"The past has shown you should not use this term in football. Anyway, if Real Madrid are keen on Mario Gotze, we will now start monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo!"
