Andre Villas-Boas underlined Chelsea's interest in Genk star Kevin de Bruyne ahead of their clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues signed Belgian starlets Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois in the summer, and they made moves to try and also land De Bruyne.

But whilst they managed to agree terms with Genk for Courtois, they could not secure a deal for De Bruyne.

De Bruyne is now hoping to recover from injury in time to face Chelsea on Wednesday, and Villas-Boas admits he is a big fan of the young midfielder.

"De Bruyne has always been an interesting player. He can play in several positions, wide left or in central midfield, and is exceptionally gifted technically," Villas-Boas said.

"He reminds me of the older Belgian players like Enzo Scifo. As you know we scouted Kevin, but we have scouted many players. It doesn't mean they will all join us."

On his own players ahead of the game Villas-Boas refused to confirm if Fernando Torres would return to the starting line-up.

Torres has missed Chelsea's last two Premier League matches while he serves a three-match ban following his red card against Swansea on 24th September.

The Spain striker is available for European ties and featured in the Blues' last Champions League match against Valencia.

But in his domestic absence, Villas-Boas' side have scored eight goals against Bolton and Everton, with young forward Daniel Sturridge performing well alongside Didier Drogba and Juan Mata.

"The decision is made but I wouldn't like to share it with you. What is most important is he is in the 18-man squad," Villas-Boas said.

"He has been out for quite a long time but fortunately he was able to have some action with the Spanish team to keep him in good form. His attitude in training has been good."

He also revealed that Brazilian Ramires would miss the game with a knee injury and is a doubt for Sunday's match with Queens Park Rangers.

"Rami will be out of this game and for the game on Sunday he is a doubt as it is about a four-day period so it would be 50-50 chance of him making it," he said.
