Burnett: Felt side were below par
Dagenham & Redbridge coach Wayne Burnett bemoaned injuries but conceded his side were below par after a 3-1 defeat at Rotherham.
Gareth Evans fired the Millers into an eighth-minute lead in Saturday's League Two clash at the Don Valley Stadium, but they were pegged back when the visitors equalised with a 21st-minute header from Scott Doe.
Two goals in nine minutes from Lewis Grabban got Rotherham back to winning ways after their first defeat of the season last weekend, but after romping through the first half they eased off and the visitors could so easily have snatched a point.
Burnett said: "We gave Rotherham too many chances. We didn't defend well, particularly for the third goal when we had a forward coming back to defend
"He should have got rid of it, but he played himself into trouble and we gave away a goal. For the first goal, maybe the goalkeeper could have done a lot better, but we didn't create enough ourselves, although we did hit the bar and their keeper made a couple of good saves.
"If one of those had gone it, it could easily have been different. I'm not making excuses, but we have a lot of players out injured and when we get them all back it will hopefully be a different story."
