Juventus forward David Trezeguet is expected to be sidelined until the new year after suffering a calf injury.

The Frenchman has been in fine form this season, rustling up six goals from six starts and four substitute appearances in Seria A.

Trezeguet, who remains in the international wilderness under France manager Raymond Domenech, sustained the muscular injury in training on Thursday.

The Turin outfit currently lie second in Italy's top flight but now seem a little light up front as Trezeguet's injury leaves boss Ciro Ferrara with just three senior strikers to choose from.

However, the upcoming winter break in Seria A will benefit the Old Lady, who look to be champions Inter's biggest rivals for the title this season.
