Moore: Wants consistency
Darren Moore is hoping he can continue his promotion record after joining Barnsley on a free transfer.
The veteran defender has signed a one-year contract at Oakwell after being released by Derby County.
He has secured promotion from the Championship four times during his career and believes that was a factor in Simon Davey's decision to sign him.
"That was probably one of the main reasons why the gaffer was looking at me," Moore told Sky Sports News.
"It's been great to have four successive promotions out of this division and I'm really, really pleased.
"But first things first, we have to try to get off on a positive note here. It's a long season, it's a marathon not a sprint as they say.
"If you start well and build up the momentum to keep going, I always say look and see where you are around the Christmas period."
Barnsley reached the FA Cup semi-finals last season and Moore feels the team need to translate that form into the Championship.
He added: "To me, they've proven in the FA Cup that they can mix it with the best.
"In the league, their performances have been up and down, and inconsistent, so we've got to try and find that fine line of the success in the cup and bring it into the league on a consistent basis."
