Gay: Another win
Tyson Gay continued his fantastic finish to the season by beating Asafa Powell to victory in the men's 100 metres in Daegu on Friday.
The 2007 world champion ran a historic 9.69 seconds in Shanghai last Sunday but could only manage 9.94 in the South Korean City.
Gay, who was battling through fatigue and thigh pains, made an average start but powered ahead of Jamaican Powell as the finish line approached.
The former world record holder ran 10 seconds flat to come in second while his compatriot Nesta Carter was third in 10.15.
Triple Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt pulled out of the event earlier in the month, leaving Wallace Spearmon to take a dominant win in the 200m ahead of British sprinter Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun and Kim Collins.
Pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva took her fourth Daegu win despite only clearing 4.60 metres, almost half-a-metre below her own world record mark.
There was a shock result in the men's 800m as Bahrain's Yusuf Saad Kamel upset world and Olympic champion Wilson Bunge, who could not even manage a top-three finish.
American Carmelita Jeter took a commanding victory in the women's 100m, clocking a time of 10.83 to better Sherone Simpson by over half-a-second.
Nancy Langat of Kenya stormed to victory in the 1,500 metres after breaking away from the pack in the process of following pacemaker Mardrea Hyman.
