Ricky Hatton has told Sky Sports News he is excited at the prospect of working with new trainer Floyd Mayweather senior.
Hatton parted company with his long-time trainer Billy Graham in July and will now team up with the 55-year-old Mayweather, who will travel to Manchester to oversee preparations for the Hitman's showdown with Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas on November 22.
"I think it is a fantastic move," Hatton said. "I met him in Las Vegas last week. I was very, very impressed at what he said and what he is going to do for me and it's exciting times for the future.
"Hopefully he can add a few strings to my bow. He is regarded as the best trainer in the world, and obviously working with Golden Boy Promotions, I spoke with Oscar de la Hoya and got his opinion and what he thinks of the man.
"And after speaking to him myself I think there are several things that you can add to Ricky Hatton's style."
The American trainer is the father of Floyd junior, the only fighter to beat the Hitman in the professional ranks.
Wayne McCullough liked what he saw as Ricky Hatton rolled back the years and silenced the doubters.
