Foster: iPod inspiration
Ben Foster has revealed he made last-second preparations for the Carling Cup final penalty shoot-out on his iPod.
Manchester United lifted the first piece of domestic silverware of the season courtesy of a 4-1 triumph on spot-kicks against Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday after the teams were locked goalless after extra-time.
Foster was the hero for United as he saved Jamie O'Hara's opening kick for Spurs before David Bentley fired an effort wide.
With Ryan Giggs, Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Anderson all converting from 12 yards, it enabled the Old Trafford outfit to continue on their incredible quest for a trophy quintuple.
Red Devils goalkeeper Foster spent the crucial moments after the final whistle blew with goalkeeping coach Eric Steele watching Tottenham's penalty takers in action, giving him a crucial edge in the nerve-wracking shoot-out.
Foster told reporters: "Just before the shoot-out I was looking at an iPod with goalkeeping coach Eric Steele. On it were images of Spurs taking penalties.
"I'd been told if O'Hara took a kick that he would probably go to my left. It was great that was exactly what happened and I managed to get a hand to it.
"I did an awful lot of research on who takes penalties for Spurs.
"I'd been given a lot of information on which way they put kicks.
"The iPod is Eric's innovation. It's an amazing tool, you can brush up straight away."
