Blackburn's penalty hero Paul Robinson was delighted to help his side into the Carling Cup semi-finals.

Robinson was on hand to save two penalties from Michael Ballack and Gael Kakuta to send Blackburn into the last four.

Rovers had drawn 3-3 after extra-time with Chelsea at Ewood Park, before they sealed a semi-final place, where they will face Aston Villa.

"For a club like us to be in the semi-final is fantastic," Robinson told Sky Sports News.

"Realistically we are not going to challenge for league honours.

"So to be in a competition like this , with the possibility of going to Wembley for ourselves and the fans is great."

Robinson also quipped that Rovers' penalty shoot-out success was not too hard on manager Sam Allardyce - who is recovering from his heart procedure.

"We just had to make sure his heart operation was working tonight, I think it would have been a good test," he joked.
