The Portuguese Football Federation has suspended national coach Carlos Queiroz for one month.

Action has been taken after a disciplinary committee found the former Real Madrid boss guilty of misconduct.

Queiroz has also been fined €1,000 (£823) after insulting an anti-doping team sent to test the Portugal squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

It is claimed that his aggressive behaviour disrupted their work, and he has been punished accordingly.

Missing

Queiroz will now be missing from the bench when Portugal get their Euro 2012 qualification campaign underway next month.

They are due to face Cyprus on 3rd September and Norway four days later.

Ex-Manchester United assistant Queiroz initially fought the charges, with Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson testifying on his behalf as a character witness.

However, the Portuguese authorities have decided that he acted out of turn and must face the consequences.
