Jamieson: Coventry capture
Elite League champions Coventry Blaze have signed Great Britain defenceman Leigh Jamieson.
The 22-year-old has spent the past five seasons with Belfast Giants and last term posted his best professional points return, registering 11 goals and 11 assists in 60 games.
Blaze coach Paul Thompson said: "I really feel Leigh can be one of the top three British defencemen in this league.
"He has great size, he has good hands but his skating ability is his key asset.
"I'm really looking forward to working every day with a player I think is very, very talented."
Meanwhile, defenceman Mark Thomas has signed a new one-year contract with Sheffield Steelers, his fourth season with the play-off champions.
US-based British sports-writer Simon Veness offers his thoughts on the start of the NHL play-offs.
