Devils reunited

Latulippe: Happy to be back

Jay Latulippe has told skysports.com he is thrilled that the Devils' "raptor" line has been reunited.

The announcement that Team GB winger Phil Hill has signed with the Devils for the 2009-10 campaign, means that Cardiff's dangerous second line has been reformed.

With Latulippe, Hill and team captain Brad Voth icing together on the same unit, the Devils had a mix of skill and speed that gave opposing teams huge problems.

And in an exclusive interview with skysports.com, Latulippe has even coined a nickname for the line.

"We were like a bunch of raptors out there, just real hungry," Latulippe said.

"I'm sure we would have clicked earlier but with all the injuries we would only play together every third shift or something like that.

Core

"That line was fun to play on."

The trio came together towards the end of the season when the Devils had a full roster and the returning group of core players will be key for the club as they try to improve on a mid-table finish.

Latulippe's playmaking abilities, combined with Hill and Voth's in-your-face style made the line tough to handle.

American-forward Latulippe was the team's joint top scorer with 69 points.

Hill had a breakthrough year with 50 points, earning himself a call up to the national team, while Voth averaged almost a point per game despite injury and suspension.

"We just all worked hard every shift, those two would hit everything in sight and I would just read off that, which made my job easy," Latulippe continued.

"But we just had fun out there and made it hard for teams to play against us which is the Cardiff style of hockey."
