Any thoughts John Cena had of a warm welcome back were quickly dashed as arch-rival Randy Orton inflicted more pain on The Champ on Monday night RAW.
After two weeks away from the ring due to a Legend Killer-enforced injury, Cena made a popular return and was immediately gifted the ideal opportunity to reek revenge.
General manager William Regal made the popular announcement in front of a packed out Detroit crowd that Cena and Orton would go one-on-one in the squared circle.
As "It's my time" blared out to a rapturous reception, Cena quickly laid into his rival with the feeling of Orton's brutal punt to the head still looming large in the Chain Gang Commander's mind.
The turning point in the contest came when Judgement Day opponent JBL entered the arena and announced that he would be officiating the rest of the contest.
The new referee was clearly having a negative impact on Cena, and the Orton-JBL combination soon ensured a Legend Killer victory.
When Orton was able to momentarily pin his shoulders, JBL slapped the canvas for the quickest of three-counts, robbing The Champ of his revenge.
Never far from controversy - WWE Champion Triple H quickly got involved in a piece of the action as he set his sights straight on Orton.
As a taster of their Judgement Day title-fight a steel cage descended around the ring.
Both superstars traded a simultaneous flurry of punches on each other before the petrified Orton was able to squirm out of The Game's grasp and slide out of the cage.
You could cut the tension with a knife as Orton and The Game, Cena and JBL all turn their attention to Judgement Day in what promises to a sensational spectacle.
The beer drinking, jaw breaking, baddest son of a gun in the WWE - Stone Cold Steve Austin left his mark on Wrestling.
