Star of The Wrestler Mickey Rourke has been in talks with Vince McMahon over a proposed appearance in the WWE.

The Hollywood actor has enjoyed a fairytale comeback after starring in the film about a fading American wresting star coming to terms with his life after a heart attack.

And now the Golden Globe winner appears ready to take his Randy 'The Ram' Robinson character to Wrestlemania XXV.

Negotiations have already taken place between the McMahons and the star and Rourke now looks set for the April showpiece.

"I think I'm gonna do Wrestlemania in Houston," Rourke said. "The boys from the WWE called me and asked me to do it.

"I said, 'I want to.' I'm talking with WWE legend Rowdy Roddy Piper about it.

"The nicest thing has been the whole wrestling community embracing us. The movie was about their world."

It would not be the first time Rourke has ventured into the world of sporting entertainment after previously fighting as a light-heavyweight boxer between 1991 and 1994.

He quit the ring after six wins and two draws and now looks ready to put that undefeated record back on the line on the grandest stage of them all.
