Batista became RAW's first special guest host in San Jose on a night that saw a trio of new recruits making their mark.
Acting as general manager for the night, The Animal pitted his nemesis Randy Orton in a Three-On-One Gauntlet match against three of RAW's five new superstars.
First up for the WWE champion was the high-flying Evan 'Air' Bourne, who was eventually grounded by an RKO from the top rope.
Former ECW champion Jack Swagger was the next to appear, although The All-American American opted to get himself counted out and try to befriend the Legend Killer rather than wrestling.
Last up was another former ECW Champion, Mark Henry, who took advantage of Orton's injuries sustained at The Bash to claim the one...two...three.
In his second piece of business, Batista also instituted a Night of Champions tournament for the right to face Orton at the upcoming pay-per-view.
John Cena defeated The Miz for the second night running to advance through the first round of that competition and will face off against Triple H for the WWE Title No. 1 contendership on the next edition of RAW.
The Game had earlier gone through with victory over Ballin' Superstar MVP, while new unified WWE tag team champions Edge and Chris Jericho successfully defended their newly acquired titles against Carlito and Primo.
United States Champion Kofi Kingston and Big Show were both counted out from their match, meanwhile, so The World's Largest Athlete will have to wait at least another week for a shot at the Jamaican's title.
And finally, Mickie James overcame Kelly Kelly, Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes to become No. 1 contender for the Divas Championship.
Tune in for the next edition of RAW live on Sky Sports 3 from 2am on Tuesday July 7, when The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase has been confirmed as the special guest host.
