ECW champion Christian faced his biggest test to date in the form of Japanese superstar Yoshi Tatsu on the latest edition of ECW.
Tatsu had earned his shot at the coveted ECW championship last week and looked to be a major threat considering his recent run of form.
In the biggest match of his young career, the Japanese boy put up a competitive fight against Captain Charisma, who has said Tatsu is the most deserving superstar on the show to fight for the title.
But Tatsu's strong, high-energy effort proved not to be enough in order to win the ECW Championship in his first title match against his experienced counterpart.
Christian managed to pin Tatsu in what was an enthralling encounter between the two after he executed a perfectly-timed Killswitch, to retain ECW gold around his waist.
After the match, Christian helped Tatsu back up from the ring but before both men could catch their breath, William Regal and his associates Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson took to the ring.
Kozlov brutally kicked Tatsu out of the ring whilst Jackson assaulted Christian. Regal then entered the ring, snatched the ECW championship from Christian, and held it above his head as he stood over his beatdown rival.
Also this week on ECW, The Abraham Washington show featured a very special guest in the shape of ECW General Manager Tiffany.
The Diva spoke about WWE Bragging Rights, and claimed that although ECW hadn't featured on the card, superstars such as CM Punk, Jack Swagger and Kofi Kingston all got their first big break in the land of extreme.
British Brawler William Regal then interrupted proceedings to demand a a shot at the ECW championship. Tiffany refused to grant Regal his wish, but more newsworthy was the statement that followed, as Tiffany insisted that Regal may never receive another shot at the ECW title ever again.
Days after making his Monday Night RAW debut, Sheamus returned to face his ECW bitter rival, Shelton Benjamin. Both men had been at each others throats for several weeks, but it was the Irish superstar who left ECW for RAW with a victory over The Gold Standard.
Elsewhere, Paul Burchill confronted Gregory Helms as he spoke with Rosa Mendes backstage. The Englishman demanded that Helms meet him in the ring next week, a challenge that Helms accepted.
If you missed this week's ECW, you can catch a replay this Saturday at midnight on Sky Sports 3 and HD3. ECW airs exclusively every Thursday night on Sky Sports 3 and HD3.
