History was made at WWE's final pay-per-view event of the year as breakthrough superstar Sheamus became the new WWE champion.

The momentum looked to be with champion heading into the closing stages of the match as Cena appeared ready to suplex the Irishman through a table from the top rope.

But Sheamus used his raw power to shove Cena off the top and through the table to claim a shocking victory, which stunned the WWE Universe.

D-Generation X also created history of their own as they went on to become the new Unified Tag Team champions for the first time ever.

Utilizing a halved ladder previously dismantled by Big Show, The Game used his best force to hold the ladder upright in the middle of the ring for partner HBK to climb and reach the championship belts.

The Undertaker retained his World Title but the victory was not without it's share of controversy.

After exchanging chair shots throughout a brutal encounter, The Animal appeared to have captured the World Title after capitalising on a low blow he delivered to the champion.

Batista then struck a dazed Phenom with a chair shot to the head, to record a three count and become the new World champion.

However, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long ordered the match to be restarted, after explaining that although chairs were legal, low blows were not.

An angry Deadman seized the opportunity, and delivered a devastating Tombstone on an irate Animal which in the end was enough to reclaim the gold.

Scotsman Drew McIntyre had reason to celebrate after The Scottish Superstar used his devastating Double Underhook DDT to put away Morrison and become the new Intercontinental Champion.

Elsewhere, Randy Orton came out on top in his match with Kofi Kingston. The Viper seriously damaged his opponent's arm with a brutal kick, and then struck with an RKO which secured victory.

Also at WWE TLC, Christian retained the ECW title against Shelton Benjamin in a fantastic opening contest whilst Michelle McCool retained her Woman's championship against rival Mickie James.

Comedian and radio talk show host Dennis Miller will host the 2009 Slammy Awards in a special three hour edition of RAW exclusively LIVE tonight from 1am on Sky Sports 3.
