Mysterio: Victorious
Against all the odds, Rey Mysterio defeated Batista on the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
Just two weeks before the Royal Rumble event, the two former friends clashed inside a steel cage to determine the number one contender to The Undertaker's World Heavyweight Championship.
The main event contest appeared similar to that of a David versus Goliath scenario with The Animal possessing a huge advantage in terms of height, strength, and intensity.
Pinfall, submission or escape were the only means of survival in the main match up which couldn't have featured a bigger incentive for the winner.
At times Batista dominated the Mysterio, executing a devastating spinebuster on the 6-1-9 favourite to which many looked on, believing The Animal had done more than enough to warrant the victory.
Not only did Batista appear focused on winning the match but humiliating Rey also looked to be on the agenda, a decision that in the end came back to haunt The Animal.
Upon attempting a Batista Bomb on the Biggest Little Man, Rey surprisingly used Batista's height to his advantage by grabbing the top of the steel cage.
Mysterio then proceeded to fend off his former friend with a series of kicks that paid off, as The Animal lost his grip of his opponent and fell back into the middle of the ring.
A roaring crowd then cheered on Mysterio who appeared to be home and dry, however The Animal had other ideas, attempting to escape the steel structure via an open door.
However, as Rey climbed down from the top of the steel cage, his awareness of the situation couldn't have been better as The Biggest Little Man struck with a punt to the cage door, which slammed shut on Batista.
