Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth praised matchwinner Alex Rodman after he scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers.

The winger - signed from Blue Square Bet Premier side Tamworth in January - netted his first goal of the season in the 36th minute to settle the outcome and extend the Shots' unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.

"I was delighted with the win. We had to withstand a lot of balls into our box but I thought we deserved it. In the end I was a bit disappointed it was only 1-0," said Holdsworth.

"It was a great finish from Alex - he was on top of his game."

He added: "When we score a goal, we know how to go on and win a game of football because there is a massive desire to keep a clean sheet."
