Roma are in 'pole position' to sign £15million-rated Sporting Gijon defender Jose Angel, according to the player's agent.
The 21-year-old left-back, who is under contract until 2014, has been a reported target of European champions Barcelona and wealthy Premier League side Manchester City.
But Angel's representative, Alfredo Martinez, claims that the arrival of new Roma boss Luis Enrique could prove a decisive factor.
"I don't know if the deal will be completed today," Martinez told Corriere dello Sport.
"I know that the two clubs are having meetings.
"Roma are in pole position to acquire him and this is a great opportunity for Jose Angel.
"The arrival of Luis Enrique can make the difference, but the most important thing is that we are talking about an historic club."
