Inter Milan stretched their lead at the top of the table as Parma prevailed in a five-goal thriller at Fiorentina.

With most of their title rivals not in action until Sunday, Inter Milan took advantage to move eight points clear with a comfortable 3-1 win at Bologna.

Diego Milito put the Nerazzurri ahead in the 22nd minute but Marcelo Zalayeta equalised within a minute.

Mario Balotelli restored Inter's advantage three minutes before half-time and Esteban Cambiasso sealed the win in the 72nd minute.

Maicon spoiled his side's evening when he received a red card in stoppage time for insulting one of the referee's assistants.

Parma rose to third following an entertaining 3-2 success against Fiorentina at Artemio Franchi.

Alberto Gilardino broke the deadlock for Fiorentina in the 26th minute, only for Nicola Amoruso to equalise four minutes later.

Valeri Bojinov, on loan from Manchester City, then fired Parma in front early in the second period.

Fiorentina drew level just after the hour mark when Gilardino scored his second of the game but there was a final twist as Davide Lanzafame struck the winner for Parma on 67 minutes.
