Inter Milan extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points as Juventus were undone by Cagliari.

Inter Milan started the day with a five-point advantage over Juventus and left it late to overcome Fiorentina 1-0 at home.

The game looked set to finish goalless until Diego Milito fired home a penalty with five minutes remaining to seal a hard-fought victory.

Cagliari did Inter an extra favour by shocking Juventus 2-0 to move up to seventh.

Andrea Masiello drew Bari level in the 78th minute before Giuseppe Greco fired home the winner in stoppage time.

Roma kept up their encouraging form with a 2-1 success at struggling Atalanta, who took the lead through Fabio Ceravolo after 13 minutes.

Mirko Vucinic found the target for Roma to make it 1-1 just before half-time and Simone Perrotta struck the crucial goal on 64 minutes.

Lazio remain without a victory since August after playing out a goalless draw with Bologna.

Elvis Abbruscato's 54th minute effort secured a 1-0 win for Chievo over Palermo, who had Fabio Liverani sent off late on.
