Alberto Contador has confirmed he will honour the final year of his Astana contract after the Kazakh-based team were granted a ProTour licence for 2010.
The Spaniard won the Tour de France in Astana colours last July but had looked set to leave following delays in the renewal of the team's ProTour licence - which permits entry to cycling's biggest events.
Astana suffered financial difficulties last season - some riders went unpaid during the Giro d'Italia in May - and the International Cycling Union (UCI) demanded a bank guarantee to ensure no repeat of the problem.
That has now been received and Astana's ProTour licence for 2010 granted, prompting Contador to commit himself to the cause.
"I will continue with Astana as we had expected," the 26-year-old from Pinto said in a statement.
"I'm happy because it was time to resolve my future.
"Given the circumstances of the last few months, I think at the end of the day I've taken the best decision possible.
"The only thing I can guarantee now is I'll fight 100 percent for the Tour de France."
Contador will be part of a much-changed line-up in 2010 after former team-mate Lance Armstrong, with whom he had a difficult relationship, and team manager Johan Bruyneel departed to form the new RadioShack team.

Contador is the best cyclist in the world!!! Fighting against Armstrong and Bruyneel in Le Tour and...he won 2 rices: 1st one on the road and the 2nd one in the hotel! Good for Contador!!!
